Update on Bruno and Maisie

This is just to let you know how Bruno (Watford) is doing.  You will recall a special appeal was made with this year's newsletter and I must thank everyone who has already contributed towards the "Bruno Fund".  Happily Bruno spent a wonderful Christmas with Julian and Debs, his new foster Mum and Dad, and from the smile on his face you will see that he is really enjoying himself.  It will be a long haul for poor Bruno due the fact that after being thrown out of the bedroom window, his injuries were ignored and hence, treatment will be prolonged.  We are hoping that he will get built up quicker in his foster home than at the kennels and, therefore, he will be able to start on his "swimming lessons" sooner than expected.  Hopefully, this will help his back legs and spine which were both damaged in his fall.  Julian and Debs say that he is a most delightful dog and are happy to care for him until the times comes, we hope, when he is fully recovered and can then look for his forever home.

The other dog we made an appeal for was Maisie.  Poor little Maisie just a baby herself, found on the streets, taken to the pound where she produced five rottie puppies, three of whom subsequently died.  Maisie came to us when her two remaining puppies were two days old and as you can see and she has blossomed into an extremely pretty bitch  with two absolutely beautiful puppies who are now three weeks old.  Maisie and her "boys" are doing remarkably well considering the circumstances but she still needs ongoing treatment to get her back to full strength.  She is a most diligent and loving mom to her puppies and an absolutely perfect little girl who loves everyone.  So from Bruno and Maisie and her "boys"  and all of us at RWA thank you for your continued support it really is most appreciated.  Look out for further news. If you wish to donate to our Charity please click the donate button.  You can pay via a Paypal account or by credit card.
Dogs needing to be rehomed: There are always far more dogs that need to be rehomed than we can actually help, and this means we are now always full, but it is our aim to consider each request to rehome a dog on its merits independent of age or other circumstances. We rehome all ages from puppies to 10 years+, but puppies and young dogs are fostered where possible.  Other rescues organisations can apply to us for help in finding a rottie a new home by advertising on our website and we will consider each request individually, but reserve the right to refuse.   1 January 2012

The Rottweiler Welfare Association cannot rehome dogs that have been aggressive or are shown to have aggressive responses.  If you have a temperament/ aggression problem and you would like help or advice with regards to training and/or managing the problem we are happy for you to telephone us on 01732 841082 or email us with a query which we will endeavour to answer.  If you have serious concern about your dog's temperament we recommend you discuss this with your veterinary surgeon.  If RWA takes in a dog for rehoming that displays aggression whilst in our care we will discuss the dog's future with a behaviourist/trainer and a veterinary surgeon.
