Making a bequest to Rottweiler Welfare

Please help us make a difference in rescuing abandoned and neglected Rottweilers and help those who are unwanted; also to provide all necessary care, treatment and rehabilitation and to assess these dogs for adoptability and find suitable homes for them  by including us in your Will.

To include a legacy to the Rottweiler Welfare Association in your will is a relatively simple matter . It can be done as a bequest (included in the wording of the Will) or as a 'codicil' (added to a previously drawn-up Will). Please read on for help and guidance on the simplest ways to use your Will to help 'Black and Tan' Rotties who need a new forever home.

If you haven't drawn up a will, you should do so as soon as possible.

At the cheapest end of the market, you can buy a 'do it yourself' will from a stationers, where you only need to fill in the blanks, sign, date and have it witnessed. This method is fine for straightforward cases where there are few bequests and no complicated trust structures.

The best way though is to contact a solicitor. Telephone a few local solicitors, if you have not already got one, and ask them for the approximate cost to draw up a Will. After this make an appt and let them explain the process, after all that's what they are in business for!

Whilst considering who and what to include, please remember the Rottweiler Welfare Association, who rehome and look after these fantastic dogs. All bequests whether small or large will go to the care of the dog, as we are a not-for-profit organisation.

To include a bequest to RWA in a new or re-drafted will, you can include a pecuniary bequest (a particular sum of money), or a gift in kind (jewellery, a property or piece of land), or a residuary bequest (the gift of all or part of your estate, after other legacies, bequests and debts).

To include any kind of bequest to RWA, by adding a codicil to your will and therefore leaving the remaining provisions untouched, we suggest the following as an example of the wording:

"This is a codicil made by me, (name) of (address) to my Will, dated (date). I give (state details of the type and content of the bequest) to the Rottweiler Welfare Association, for its charitable purposes and I direct that the confirmed receipt of same from the Chairman, Treasurer or other authorised officer shall be a valid and appropriate form of discharge. In all other respects I confirm my Will dated (original date)."

For further details please contact Mrs Jennie Carruthers, Hon Secretary, on 01491 652105.

Leaving a Legacy

We know it is not easy to think about writing a Will, but it doesn't have to be a daunting task.  Making a Will means you can choose how your money, possessions, and property will be dealt with and provides you with peace of mind, knowing that your affairs will be in order.

Leaving RWA a bequest will mean that we can continue our work in rehoming and caring for Rottweiler.
